Consultant Post at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital

Written by Ali Chakera on Tuesday, 19 March 2013 20:17.

There is an exciting opportunity for a full time (10PA) Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology, Acute and General Medicine.
This post has arisen from the extensive clinical, research and teaching commitments of existing departmental consultants and the need to re-distribute the clinical work.

The post involves some teaching but the department/trust/medical school have proven record of supporting career development within research, management or education according to the appointee’s interests. The post offers a balanced clinical work between acute medicine (joining an Acute Medical Rota with 6 rota’d colleagues) and diabetes and endocrinology and we are looking for applicants with a strong interest in both specialties. It is anticipated that the appointees will join the on call rota covering general medicine, 1 in 16 evening ward rounds, 1 in 8 weekends. Outpatient clinical work will be outpatient diabetes with the potential to develop another specialist interest.

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of 400,000 people from the Primary Care Trust but some specialist services serve in excess of 500,000. The Trust was awarded Foundation Trust status in April 2004 and is also a designated Cancer Centre within the Peninsula Cancer Network. Further information on the Trust can be obtained via the website on www.rdehospital.nhs.uk. The Exeter Medical School affords exciting new opportunities to participate in both undergraduate teaching and research.

For further informal discussion or you could phone Mollie Donohoe (clinical lead) on 07855 844137 or Mark Daly Clinical Director (Acute Medical Specialties) on 07526 539627
An application form will be imminently available via NHS jobs on www.jobs.nhs.uk
