Building upon the successful outreach conferences over the past few years, the team headed up by Professor Michael Edmonds at King's College Hospital along with the Rehabilitation Services of Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Trust have formed a collaboration with the Royal Society of Medicine and Diabetes UK and are pleased to announce the establishment of a 'Medicine and Me: Diabetes' series of events which are designed for Patients with Diabetes - Families and Carers of Diabetic Patients are also invited to attend.
Healthcare practitioners, clinicians and providers are also welcome to attend these events.

These seminars will allow all aspects of Diabetes and secondary complications to be focussed on, with current treatment and management options explored through participation from a wide range of healthcare professionals involved in these different areas.
The aim of these sessions is to help improve the knowledge and understanding of Patients and their Families/Carers of these potential complications in order to educate them in how to avoid or at least minimise them, and help to make sure they have the confidence to cope with any issues should they arise.

The first of these seminars will focus on 'Living with Diabetic Eye Disease' and will run on the 21st of March, 2014. For more information, please see www.rsm.ac.uk/academ/mme02.php - The flyer for this event is available here.

King's College Hospital and Guy's and St. Thomas' are also planning to run the Lower Limb Awareness Day within this series in the early Autumn, as well as a seminar focussing on Diabetes, control, diet and exercise in the early part of 2015 with a second conference running later on in the year.
