Struggling with retinal photograph interpretation? Informed you need a greater awareness of retinal screening services at your ARCP?

If you’ve been told to keep an eye on your retinal screening skills, then look no further than the YDEF’s annual retinopathy course at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Thursday 8th- Friday 9th December 2016.

Note - This course is not scheduled to run in 2017 therefore apply early to ensure you do not miss out this year!


This course is led by Professor Paul Dodson, who was a key figure in setting up retinal screening services across the UK. The course will educate attendees on how to grade retinal screening photographs, with break-out sessions throughout the course to support lectures on the topic. The course will also give a background to the set-up of the UK’s retinal screening services. 

25 places are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for this year’s course, which will take place on Thursday 8th December and Friday 9th December 2016 at Heartlands’ Hospital, Birmingham. The course is sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim and attendance is free for YDEF members. Overnight accommodation will be provided and this year will be at Jury’s Inn, Broad Street, Birmingham. Attendees are also invited to the course dinner on the Thursday evening.
