YDEF-Lilly EASD scholarship 2017

The YDEF-Lilly scholarship is in it's 4th year! This extremely popular initiative provides sponsorship for UK Diabetes and Endocrinology specialist trainees to attend the EASD.

This year EASD is in Lisbon from 11th - 15th September 2017 www.easd.orgThanks to Lilly we have up to 20 scholarships of £1000 for UK SpRs to attend this great international meeting. Click here to apply.

We at the YDEF will anonymously choose the top applicants based on a written submission. Successful SpR's will be able to claim £1000 for expenses and travel to Lisbon. Deadline 26th JUNE, good luck!

Oxford Diabetes Symposium

In 2014, Oxford once again hosts the 21st Diabetes Symposium. Professor Stephen Gough and Dr Jonathan Levy are delighted to be part of Oxford’s 21st Diabetes Symposium and will be playing a strategic part in the invitation process. This exciting Symposium will be taking place at Keble College, Oxford from Thursday 24 July to Friday 25 July 2014.

Middlesbrough Insulin Infusion Pump Course

The team at the James Cook Univeristy Hospital, Middlesbrough are running a two day Insulin Infusion Pump Course on 27 & 28 November 2014 for more details have a look at this flyer/application form.

The course offers the opportunity of a ‘practical hands on approach’ to using Insulin Infusion Pumps and includes a conference dinner which will form part of the learning about estimation of carbohydrate intake, all delegates are encourage to attend and this is included in the delegate fee of £225. Delegates will also have the opportunity to talk to patient users of insulin infusion pumps.

We would like to invite you to this European Interchange on Diabetes meeting, entitled ‘Type 2 Diabetes – a balancing act’. Integrating Primary Care and Commercial Providers into Obesity Management

This intensive two day course (27-28 October 2014) covers the many features and varieties of obesity management that professionals are encountering today and will provide a greater knowledge of effective patient management and the vital role of professionals in tackling obesity.

The event is targeted at professionals working in clinical practice, including: nurses, diabetes specialist, endocrinologists, general practitioners, nutritionists, physiotherapists and anybody who works directly with obese patients as well as students training in the area of obesity.

Diabetes UK are offering free workshops that will build your skills and knowledge of effective user engagement.

The Making Involvement Happen workshops are FREE for all NHS staff and will cover practical steps from recruiting people for events to facilitation of discussions. We will provide you with a toolkit of templates and examples to help you plan and deliver effective involvement activities.

'Ectopic fat: Causes, consequences, sequelae and treatment
